Pipe is loaded onto spiral conveying with motorised pipe chasing, which turns the pipe as it passes so the wheels cover the full circumference. Wheel position and chase speed are set to the diameter so that coverage is complete without over-blasting thin wall. Abrasive is thrown at 72 to 85 m/s at a flow of about 1,900 kg/min, and the two wheels are arranged so that the impact patterns overlap on the working surface. As the pipe leaves the blast zone, spent abrasive and dust fall into the hopper, are carried by screw conveyor to a bucket elevator, and pass through an air separator that removes fines and broken abrasive before the reusable abrasive returns to the wheels. Dust goes to a three-stage collection system with automatic filter cleaning. The pipe is then checked for cleaning grade and profile, and both are recorded. Wear items, the wheel blades, control cage, chamber liners and abrasive hose, are inspected on a defined interval rather than on failure, because their condition is what determines the profile.
1. Pipe diameter: 118-820mm
2. Processing capacity: 600 m²/h nominal, dependent on diameter and line speed
3. Cleaning level: ≥Sa2.5
4. Materials for production: epoxy powder, adhesive, polyethylene
Cleaning grade and surface profile are referenced to ISO 8501-1, with the achieved grade recorded per pipe rather than assumed from a setting. Abrasive grade and mixture are quoted against the profile the coating system requires, because a profile that is too shallow or too deep will fail the same coating specification in different ways. Dust emission and workplace noise are quoted against the local requirement at the buyer's site rather than against a general figure, and where a permit condition applies we ask for it at quotation stage.
Incoming pipe cleaning ahead of a coating line; a standalone blasting shop supplying several coating lines; second stage blasting after a first rough clean; re-blasting of pipe that has been stored and oxidised; preparation before a tape or liquid coating system; preparation of pipe for inspection and dimensional checking. Buyers are frequently plants that already have a coating line and need more blasting capacity, or fabricators who only do the preparatory stage and sell cleaned pipe onward. In the first case the machine is quoted against the existing line's pitch and speed rather than as an isolated unit, because a blasting machine that is faster than the line it feeds has no value.
Installation and commissioning are supervised on site by 2 to 3 engineers over 15 to 30 days. Operators are trained until they can run and adjust the line without supervision. The documentation package is in English and includes layout, foundation drawings, electrical schematics, P and ID and machine manuals. A two-year spare parts package can be supplied with the line, and critical wear parts are despatched by air within 72 hours of a confirmed order. Warranty covers the main machine for 12 months and the screw, barrel, motor and gearbox for 24 months.

Why Choose Qingdao Huashida
Blasting is a stage we build for every coating line and for our own pipeline companies, including lines where the blast chamber has to be arranged around a blast pit for large diameter pipe. Our anti-corrosion machinery carries a Shandong Province First-Set Technical Equipment award, and because we operate coating plants ourselves we set our wear inspection intervals from our own production records rather than from a supplier recommendation.
