PEX stands for Cross-Linked Polyethylene. It is a polyethylene pipe that undergoes a special cross-linking process to improve its mechanical and thermal properties. Through cross-linking, the molecular structure of polyethylene becomes stronger and more stable, allowing the pipe to withstand high temperatures, high pressures, and aggressive chemicals. Compared with traditional metal pipes such as steel or copper, PEX pipes offer significant advantages in terms of installation, maintenance, flexibility, and resistance to corrosion. Today, they are widely used in plumbing systems, floor heating, HVAC systems, gas transportation, and industrial fluid applications. PEX pipes are especially popular in modern construction projects because they are lightweight, easy to bend, and capable of maintaining long-term performance under demanding operating conditions.

Modern PEX pipe production lines are highly automated extrusion systems designed to produce high-quality pipes with stable dimensions and excellent mechanical properties.
A complete production line integrates several stages of manufacturing, including:
The entire system is controlled through advanced PLC automation systems to ensure stable production speed, consistent wall thickness, and accurate pipe dimensions. ![]()
Product process flow :
The PEX pipe production process begins with feeding polyethylene raw materials into the extrusion system through an automatic feeding unit. The material is then melted and plasticized inside the single screw extruder under controlled temperature and pressure conditions. After melting, the material passes through the extrusion die head, where it is formed into the desired pipe shape and diameter. Depending on the pipe type, the product then enters the cross-linking stage, where the polyethylene structure is chemically or physically modified to create cross-linked polyethylene (PEX), improving heat resistance, pressure strength, and durability. The hot pipe then moves through the vacuum calibration tank, which stabilizes the pipe dimensions and maintains roundness while initial cooling begins. After calibration, the pipe enters the cooling tank for complete temperature reduction and dimensional stabilization. Next, the haul-off machine continuously pulls the pipe through the production line at synchronized speed to maintain stable production quality. The pipe is then automatically cut into required lengths using a cutting machine or wound into coils through an automatic coiler system. Finally, the finished PEX pipes undergo quality inspection and testing, including pressure testing, diameter measurement, wall thickness inspection, and cross-linking analysis before packaging and shipment.
PEX pipes are used in a wide range of industries and engineering systems worldwide.
In residential construction, they are commonly installed in hot and cold water distribution systems, floor heating networks, and potable water systems.
In commercial buildings, PEX pipes are widely used for HVAC systems, central heating systems, and large-scale plumbing networks.
Industrial applications include chemical fluid transportation, cooling systems, and specialized thermal systems requiring corrosion-resistant piping materials.
One of the fastest-growing applications for PEX pipes today is radiant floor heating systems, where the pipe's flexibility and thermal efficiency make it ideal for heat transfer beneath flooring surfaces.
