HDPE heat shrinkage sleeves feature a two-layer structure consisting of a radiation cross-linked high density polyethylene backing and a specialized hot-melt adhesive. For application on steel pipelines, the shrink sleeve is used in combination with a solvent-free, two-components epoxy primer.
The hot-melt adhesive provides excellent adhesion to the HDPE backing, the steel pipe surface, and the epoxy primer. Upon heating, the HDPE backing shrinks while the adhesive layer melts, allowing sleeves to tightly conform to the pipe joint. Together with the epoxy primer, this system forms a strong, continuous anti-corrosion barrier comparable to factory application for three layers polyethylene (3LPE) coatings.
This coating system offers excellent resistance to corrosion, abrasion, impact, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, and aging. In addition, it is easy to apply in field conditions.
